Strive for Progress Not for Perfection + plus what organizational projects I have been working on

Hello my sweet friends. So for the blog post today it's the organization projects I have been working on.  I love when things are organized, just because my husband and I can find things alot easier and quicker. So before we begin, I found a quote on (Pinterest) that I love and want to share with you.  If you read it, it says "STRIVE FOR PROGRESS NOT FOR PERFECTION."  This quote is very meaningful because we don't want things to be perfect, at least I don't. I like a little mess here and there; it shows that I'm human and I have a toddler running around lol; and we all know that when you have a toddler, your house can go from 100% clean, to it looking like a tornado hit the inside of your house and missed the rest of the town lol. This can also go for any part of your life.  You want to strive for progress that way you know that you are getting somewhere and you are understanding where you are and where you want to be and you may even be happy...but if you strive for perfection, I'm afraid you may be disappointed, because nothing will ever be completely perfect...atleast not in this life.  So there you have...my meaning of this quote...and here are some pictures of what I have been organizing this week. :)

This is when you first go up stairs.  This was just blank and I wanted something in the corner so I just put a white table that I had, put some photos, a little lantern we got in South Dakota, some flowers and a mirror on it.  I then put our workout equipment underneath it in a little black basket, put some extra stuff we didn't really need right away right next to it, and then my purple yoga mat leaning on the side of it.  I then took some picture frames of my family that we have and hung them up over the stand.  I love it and it makes the house feel cozier and more inviting.

Same picture, different angle

This is our movie bookshelf. My movies are on the very top and my husband's movies are on the three shelves that were left.

This is our book and game shelf.  First I went ahead and put my son's books that I want to keep nice on the far right, then I put some of our books on the middle and the left.  The next shelf down has all my husband's xbox and xbox one games, and the shelf underneath that has my husbands Playstation 1,2, and 3 games, WII and WII U games and game-cube games.  The shelves under that one has the rest of our books...including the books I used for reference when I was pregnant, my Christian books and bibles, just reading books of all kinds and of course our self help books I just like to use as a reference..  This all took me about an hour or so to do both shelves and now my husband can find all of his games and I can find all of my books. And these are not all of my books, I have more in my bedroom, and my son has some in his room that he is allowed to have because he can't destroy them lol.

That's it for now, hope you all had some inspiration, and in the comments below...answer this question....

Question to answer:
WHAT AREA IN YOUR LIFE DO YOU NEED TO STRIVE FOR PROGRESS AND NOT FOR PERFECTION?

Why does race matter that much?

Hello my sweet friends and welcome back to another post.  I get these comments all the time about race.  My husband is white, I am black and my son is mixed (white and black) and I always get questions like: why is your son a different color than you?  Why is your husband white? Why are you black?  and more and I've been getting these questions a lot lately.  We live in a very racial society where people put a lot of emphasis on race and the color of your skin, but why?  Why does it matter what color you are?  Why does it matter who you marry and what color they are?  I have no idea.  We are raising my kid to understand that yes he is different but he's unique in his own way and that is alright.  He can't talk fluently yet so I can't just ask him what color he thinks he is...but that is ok.  Children don't see color, they just see people who they can play with. I think that we should all see people as people and not people as a color.  God made everyone different and it shouldn't matter what color you are.  You are loved and beautiful and amazing and that's all there is to it. People need to stop worrying so much about color and start being ok with the way that people are made.  You can not change your color, even though people have tried...you can only accept it and realize that it's ok to be different and unique.

This is when Liam was a baby because I don't have a photo of the three of us now since he is two years old.

Hope you all enjoyed this post.  Comment down below if you think color/race matters.

5 tips to help a child who has a speech delay

Hello my sweet friends, and welcome back to another Chat With Vina blog post. Today's post is going to be about how to help a child who has a speech delay, and 5 tips that I have used that has helped for my child. Let's get started....

These are photos that I took of him yesterday.

Background:
My 2 year old has a speech delay.  We discovered it when he was about 1 years old, he wasn't speaking like a lot of the other children his age...now may I remind you that our child does things when he is ready, however speech is something all children need to develop so when they get into school, they can communicate.  Anyway when the doctor told us that he should be talking a little bit, that sort of concerned me just a little. The doctor told us some things we can try to help him talk and after about a year...he's doing really well.  These are my tips on how to help a child who has a speech delay, learn to talk more.

1) Let them know it's ok to speak and mess up
-Little kids need to understand that it's ok if they talk and don't quite get the right word or don't say it properly.  This is how they learn to say the word and understand what it means.

2) Read and let them look at books with you
-Reading to them, can really help them learn how to talk.  It can teach them that it's ok to talk, and that reading is fun.  Also if you let them look at the book, then not only can you help them know what's in the book, but also you can spend time with them, and teach them along the way.  One of my son's favorite things to do is to look at his books.  He points things out, and I tell him what they are, that way he's learning what the objects are, but  also he's having fun.

3) Talk to them
-Always talk to your kids.  They learn so much just by hearing what you say.  Now again remember that you have to watch what you say around them, because once they do talk, they will say whatever you say...but it's also a great way for them to learn how to talk to someone, how to talk to you, and just how to speak in general.

4) Repeat everything
-kids are not perfect speakers, they are just learning how to speak, so if you repeat things over and over to them, they will eventually put it all together.

5) Make it fun
-Always make learning fun.  If you want your child to say the word "ball," get a ball, and throw it to them, or teach them to play catch or just play with them and every time you use a ball, say "ball."  They will get it and when they do, not only will you be a proud parent, but you will also have a very proud child.

Those are 5 tips that have helped us..hope they help you. :)

NOTE:
Now I also keep flash cards with words that he knows, and go over them with him, and I also keep a piece of paper that has every word or phrase that he has learned, and again I go over them with him every day.  In January he knew 2 words, now it's September and he knows 75-90 words including phrases and he knows where all his body parts.  So keep it fun, let them learn and enjoy the years you have with them because they grow up fast. If they are having too much trouble, talk to their doctor and get their advice, they may ask that you have a speech therapist come in, which is what we do for our son, and by us teaching him and working with him, and the therapist coming in once a week to work with him, he has learned so much.

DIY Candle Holder

Hello my sweet friends.  So today I have a DIY (Do it yourself) for you.  Hope you all like it.  I spent all afternoon doing this and I love it.  So this is a candle holder that I had, and I really didn't like the way it looked.  It was old, and the white or tan paint it had didn't look so good.  So I took some paint that I had and decided that I wanted to paint it and make it look alittle prettier. I took white paint and painted all of it white, and then I took some brown paint and painted the flowers and leaves.  I then took some silver nail polish and painted the little circle inside the flowers, and also painted the inside of the leaves. I then took this shimmery make up that I don't use, combined it with the white paint, and painted the whole bottom again.  I painted the inside of the candle holders brown with a little bit of shimmer and let it all dry.  I love how it turned out and I got to test out the new paint that I got :)  By the way...painting is very therapeutic.

Hope you all enjoyed today's blog post.  I sure had a great time doing it for you all. Talk to you soon and have a wonderful day :)

My top 10 must haves for the fall/winter season

Hey my sweet friends.  What is up with this season?  The leaves are falling but it's like 70-90 degrees outside.  Not cool, but I also live in the north where it never knows exactly what season it wants to be...but I am going to say it's fall because in my mind it is lol.  Now I love fall.  It's my number one season because it's my birthday season, and because it's the time when all the leaves start to change and fall and things just start to feel fresh again.  I have a few must haves when it comes to this season...so let's get started. =)

1) Sweat pants- I live in sweat pants in this season.  I have so many paires because I just love them so much.

2) Sweat shirts and sweaters- Now I also love these...especially because I get cold very easily, I gotta have my warm and comfy clothes.

3) Fussy socks-Yes I gotta have these too to keep my feet warm.

4) Scarfs- Now I love these because not only can you wear them in the summer, but you can also wear them in the fall and winter, and they are so cute with so many outfits; plus they are warm.

5) Boots-Oh yes you just gotta have boots.  I love brown and black boots, but I also have really bright pink rain boots which also work really well in the fall and winter months; plus I'm so short and petite that I can so pull them off lol

6) Chapstick-Yes my lips get chapped so gotta have my chapsticks.

7) Lotion-Just gotta have lotion for when you have those dry days and there's just no moisture in the air..gotta keep those hands lotioned.

8) Candles and blankets-The smell is just beyond beautiful and homey, and the blankets just make everything cozier.

9) A good book, music, and hot tea/hot chocolate- When it's cold outside and you just want to feel warm...there's nothing better than a sitting down with a blanket on, reading a good book and drinking hot tea or hot chocolate.

10) gloves, hat & a good lipstick- And for those extra cold days...a cute hat and cute gloves and a good lipstick (I personally love red and dark purple lipstick), will always make you feel warm and pretty. So there you have it, my top 10 must haves for fall/winter seasons

Question of the day:
-what is one thing that you must have for the fall and winter season? Leave your answer in the comments below.

She Designed A Life She Loved

Hello all my sweet friends.  Blogging lately has not been as exciting as it has been in the past few months and I think it's because I was loving my life, and now I'm still loving it but I'm not really liking where this blog is going just because I feel like I have hit a wall.  I have not been blogging all that much lately and that is part of the reason.  I have not had the inspiration to blog.  When I post a blog post, I want to write something that will touch someone and mean something to someone...and I feel like my last blog post did; so what I did was I just went on pinterest and searched Inspirational Yoga Quotes on Life because I love yoga and there are some great quotes in that category...anyway I found this one:

I love this quote because it's just really inspiring.  I want to design a life that I love and I feel that I can do that.  I want this blog to grow and to just inspire people to just love their life.  Designing a life you love is so important and I feel that sometimes we lose what we love.  We get caught up in paying bills, going to work or school, all the normal things that we forget why we used to love our lives.  So this is an amazing quote and it's really inspired me to get back into blogging and hopefully get my blog growing.  I did take the first step and redo my office/spareroom...so that is exciting and I'm happy with how  it has turned out. It's a very peaceful room, cozy and but still worthy of being able to work and get things done.  That's all for today: Just remember to DESIGN A LIFE YOU LOVE. <3
